Relief Carving and Sculpting Metal Class

class description

This is a class for jewelers who want to get started in the art of relief carving and metal sculpting to bring dimension and intricate detail to your designs. We will cover layout and design transfer, some basic engraving techniques, carving, sculpting, texturing, finishing, and setting. Class sizes are small with a maximum of four students. Please note, the pictures on this page show a representation of the techniques you will learn, but instead of creating a finished piece, we will be exploring techniques using practice plates. You will be able to take these elements back to your home studio to continue working towards a finished piece of jewelry.

Where: All classes are held at my professionally equipped studio in the woods of Gray, Maine. The location is picturesque and rural, a perfect place to focus and learn. You will receive directions in your registration confirmation email. Learn more about me and my studio by clicking here.

When: Class will run Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm each day. Instruction ends at 5pm, with an optional additional hour for student work time. We will break from 12-1pm for lunch. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch to class, as there are few local options.
