Using traditional metalsmithing techniques, learn how to create a beautiful handmade Etruscan bracelet from start to finish. I will walk you through every step with extensive demonstrations, feedback, and individual attention. Class sizes are small with a maximum of four students. Options for additional decorative elements will be covered for the particularly ambitious. The focus of this class will be fabrication, soldering, and other metalsmithing techniques that will be applicable to improving all areas of your work.

Where: All classes are held at my professionally equipped studio in the woods of Gray, Maine. The location is picturesque and rural, a perfect place to focus and learn. You will receive directions in your registration confirmation email. Learn more about me and my studio by clicking here.

When: Class will run Monday-Friday from 9am-6pm each day. Instruction ends at 5pm, with an optional additional hour for student work time. We will break from 12-1pm for lunch. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch to class, as there are few local options.

2025 class dates:

  • April 21st-25th (class full)

  • May 26th-30th (class full)

Tuition: $1600 plus $250 kit fee

Materials kit: Each student will receive a kit including file silver wire, sterling silver sheet, paste solder, and various tools required for the project. You will leave with everything you need to explore these techniques further in your own studio.

What to bring: Each student bench is fully equipped, but please bring preferred personal tools from your own studio such as an optivisor, apron, and notebook.

Class will cover:

*Etruscan chain making

*custom tube making

*fabrication and soldering techniques

*clasp making

*demonstrations of how to create decorative elements to add to your clasp and chain ends

*demonstrations of how to add mixed metal striping to chain

*finishing techniques
